why cant we change operating system on PDA’S like we do on PC?
It would be cool to have linux distro for PDA’s
Well, Linux is sitting there waiting for you. Take it and write the code. There has to be a user base to merit the effort and the coders to do the work. No PDA OS, no demand. Go for it!
Can I receive POP3 emails from my Verizon wireless cell phone without using a PDA, Blackberry or Smartphone?
I do not want to purchase a PDA, Blackberry or Smartphone. I was wondering if I can receive POP3 emails on my Verizon cell phone using mobile web?
Yes, definitely. Any “normal” Verizon phone has the Get It Now service on it, which allows you to download software approved by Verizon for use on the phone. A few of these programs support POP3.
To get one, find the Get It Now menu (accessed using the key to the right of your “OK” button) — the icon is an arrow pointing at a circle.
You will see a menu. Choose “Get Going”, then “Get New” , then “Business Tools”. There a couple of Email choices. I use Vemail, which is cool because it let’s you read Email via text, but speak replies (or type if you want; the speaking is just a nice feature).
Any of them are going to cost you a few bucks per month, but you don’t need a separate data plan, so that is a big saver over other carriers.
You could also use the Mobile Web 2.0 service, which requires a separate subscription, and is like using a Web-mail service. For that, you would use the button just above the “OK” key — it looks like a newspaper. Or, a shortcut is the “Email” selection on the “Message” menu in the main phone menu interface. From there, you can pick Yahoo, AOL, MSN, or a few others you probably never heard of.
What new phone should I buy? I have Sprint service..I want a phone that I can use as a hand held planner / PDA
internet capability is nice but not the most necessary. I need good phone reception and as I said a nice planner function . Those are the 2 most important items the phone must have everything else is gravy. I can get any of these..which is best iyo? Get ready for it!….MOTO Q,RIM BlackBerry 8703,RIM BlackBerry 7130e,Palm Treo 700wx,HTC Mogul PPC-6800,Palm Treo 755, Palm treo 700 and BlackBerry 8830 World Edition
I know this is a large selection for you all to wade thru. Maybe you can just tell me what you have and how you like it? all reviews I see talk about the windows capabilities and email and mp3 and all. As I said I my main concern is planner/phone with email /text as a bonus. THANK YOU ALL for helping me make sense of such a confusing purchase!
